My love affair with Lella Boutique Christmas panels runs deep. Each one seems more beautiful than the last, and her new Merry Christmas, Darling panel from the Berry and Pine collection is no exception. This will be the fourth Christmas panel quilt of hers that I’ve given the Chenille-It treatment, and I have to say—it might be my new favorite. There’s just something magical about combining her incredible designs with the texture and softness of Chenille-It Blooming Bias. The result is always a quilt full of charm, dimension, and holiday spirit.
I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting the Merry Christmas, Darling + Chenille-It Quilt Along (QAL) this summer! This event brings together the joy of holiday quilting with the unique beauty of Chenille-It embellishments. Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or brand new to Chenille-It, this quilt along is the perfect opportunity to try something new and festive.
About the Quilt Along
For this QAL, we’ll be using the Merry Christmas, Darling panel by Lella Boutique, enhanced with Chenille-It Blooming Bias strips. I’ll guide you through every step, from outlining shapes to filling in designs and even incorporating Chenille-It into the binding. You’ll love seeing your quilt “bloom” with texture and personality!
The Schedule
The Merry Christmas, Darling panels are expected to arrive in May with the rest of the Berry and Pine collection. To give everyone plenty of time to get their kits, we’ve scheduled the QAL for this summer. Here’s what the tentative schedule looks like:
- WEEK 1: Stitching the white Blooming Bias onto the letters
- WEEK 2: Stitching the other Blooming Bias colors to outline the floral elements
- WEEK 3: Quilting – We will discuss the option of free motion quilting versus long arm (You may want to get one scheduled in advance). For long arm quilting, we suggest a more open pantograph that is not too dense – or even better – custom quilting that quilts around the designs.
- WEEK 4: How to finish it with Chenille-It in place of binding, and washing your quilt
Each week’s session will be recorded and made available for viewing, so even if you can’t sew along with us in real-time, you can still participate at your own pace. This way, everyone can enjoy the fun, no matter their summer schedule!
